Our Vineyards

Clos Saint Georges is located in the heart of the Roussillon plain (Pyrenees Orientales), in an exceptional “Les Aspres” region.

Five generations of winegrowers have followed one another at Clos Saint Georges. Since 1970, Dominique and Claude Ortal, winegrower owners, raise their quality wines in the private cellar of the estate, and with respect for the terroir.

Various grape varieties are now cultivated with attention on 80 hectares, thus allowing a diversified and high quality production:

Syrah, Grenache noir et blanc, Mourvèdre, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Carignan, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Vermentino, Muscat d’Alexandrie and Muscat petit grain, Merlot, Macabeu…

The grapes, picked at full maturity, are rigorously sorted, destemmed and selected. The cellar, equipped with the latest cold and pressing techniques, ensures high-quality vinification. The bottling is done at the estate.

Clos Saint Georges has obtained the “High Environmental Value” (HVE – Level 3) certification. This rewards the work undertaken for years to preserve and respect our environment with reasoned cultivation methods implemented: systematic plowing, abandonment of chemical weedkillers, reasoned and controlled treatments….

All these factors allow the production of high quality wines where the authenticity of the terroirs has regained its place.
